BEING REALISTIC ABOUT YOUR COMPANY

This week: Being realistic about your company.

The point has often been made here at Daily Essentials for Business Success that outlook is fundamental to success. Entrepreneurs and business owners need to have a positive outlook. Every entrepreneur who starts a new company does so based on optimism that the company can succeed. But outlook is more than just feeling good about the future. It's also being realistic about who you are and what you're doing. Sometimes this includes questioning, questioning yourselves and others. We're going to look at the importance of realism from three different perspectives. First, the importance of a questioning mind. Second, the importance of fact based decisions. And third is how to get realistic feedback and input.

Every business owner is driven to succeed. We business owners are born optimists. At the same time, if we're not realistic, it's hard to get the information you need to make good decisions. Being realistic is being a good manager. It doesn't mean youíve lost your optimism; it just means you want to be aware of the environment around you.

Tomorrow: The importance of questioning. Visit amazon.com or area book stores for a copy of Business Success Secrets and use it as a guide in building your company. This is Don Kornblet.
