We've spent the week doing something that every business has to do. Evaluate where it is and where it's going. We've seen that some progress has been made, including our first sale. But there's still much work to do. We have to constantly build industry awareness of our services. This means more marketing, attending industry meetings, and visiting prospects one-on-one.
While I wish there were more sales on the books, patience is necessary in the process of starting a new business. But patience should not be an excuse for lack of action. There's much hard work ahead. I've made allowances with a budget that recognizes we will lose money in our first year of operation, but expect to break even during our second year. Still, like all entrepreneurs, I won't be satisfied until we turn the corner and start making money and are profitable. We'll keep working hard to get to the next level of sales development.
Next week: How to survive a recession. Visit amazon.com or area book stores for a copy of Business Success Secrets and use it as a guide in building your company. This is Don Kornblet.
